Volunteers and students from the Ramakrishna Mission took part in the initiative on Sunday. They were divided into different teams to take up cleaning work on parts of M.G. Road, PVS Circle and Jail Road.

Prominent among the work that was taken up was covering the 100m-long roadside drain with cement blocks to allow pedestrians to walk freely. This was done on the stretch between Jail Road junction and PVS Circle.

Among the other works done by volunteers did was to give fresh coat of paint to sign boards at M.G. Road 5th Cross, M.G. Road 8th Cross and the Jail Road. A new signboard was placed at the M.G. Road 9th Cross Road. Lawn was placed at the pedestal of the high mast lamp at the PVS Circle. Garbage accumulated in the drains on Jail Road was removed and shifted in a separate lorry.
