Volunteers cleaned the Lady Hill area in the city as part of Ramakrishna Mission’s cleanliness drive on the 16th consecutive Sunday, today.
Students, volunteers of National Service Scheme, private sector employees participated in the drive.
The road direction boards which had not seen paint for past few years were painted. The misplaced direction boards which were misleading the visitors and new comers to the city were shifted to their proper places.
Dirt and garbage dumped across the footpath were cleared and weeds were removed. The railings of the footpath that were corroded were painted and posters with attractive graphics and message on ‘Swachcha Bharat” theme were pasted for creating awareness.
Handbills on cleanliness were distributed to people.
The interlock tiled path leading to bus-stand in Lady Hill used by hundreds of people everyday has been extensively damaged. Volunteers will set the interlock tiles tomorrow and repair the path, a release from the mission said.
