The cybercrime police on Sunday arrested Padmaraj Kannadiga alias Padmaraj Desai Gowda, 37, from Siddapura in Uttara Kannada district for his alleged post defaming “Koragajja Daiva”, a revered spirit in Dakshina Kannada.

A complaint was filed by Arnald Tuluve against Padmaraj for defaming “Koragajja Daiva” on his Facebook account “Troll who troll Kannadiga”. Mangaluru City South MLA D. Vedavyas Kamat forwarded an image of Padmaraj’s post to Police Commissioner P.S. Harsha through Twitter and sought action.

The cybercrime police traced Padmaraj to his house in Avaraguppa near Siddapura on Sunday and arrested him. “The city police will not spare anybody who spreads hatred among communities,” Mr. Harsha said in his tweet.
