April 08, 2011 08:14 pm | Updated 08:14 pm IST - Manipal:

The students of Manipal Institute of Communication (MIC) would be organizing a three-day exhibition and sale of handicraft, handloom and eco-friendly products titled “Namma Angadi” at the Kannada Academy Primary School here from April 8 to 10.

A press release issued by the Institute here on Thursday stated that “Namma Angadi”, with the message ‘Shop for a Cause' aims to contribute to the cause of empowering the working children and educating public about the environmental concerns by following “no plastic policy” and promoting the handicrafts and arts of the State.

It offers promotional space to the products produced by the artisans to showcase their skills and to meet the current market trends.

These products were marketed by “Namma Bhoomi”, a residential school and regional training centre of Concerned for Working Children (CWC) located at Kanyana near Kundapur.

The CWC is an NGO based in Bangalore, which works as the ambassador of children's rights.

“Namma Angadi” includes traditional and modern garments, paintings, decorative items, and handicrafts.

Over 200 products including cotton “kurtas” for men and women, shirts, tops, skirts, “pochampuli”, “Mangalgiri” and “Kalamkari” materials would be available along with stitching facilities during the sale.

Some of the artisans would be present at the venue.

“Namma Angadi” would be open to public from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on all three days.
