The ritual of Tapta Mudra Dharana was held at the Sri Krishna Mutt/Temple here on Monday. It was also held at the nearby Sri Krishnapur Mutt on the Car Street as well.

A large number of devotees took part in the ritual. Vidyadheesha Tirtha Swami of Paryaya Palimar Mutt and Ishapriya Tirtha, junior seer of Admar Mutt, stamped the images of shankha and chakra on the chest and arms of the devotees. These seals were earlier heated at the Sudarshana Homa held at the temple.

The chakra is stamped on the right arm, while the shanka is stamped on the left. In the case of women, the seals are stamped only on their arms. This ritual is held on the Prathama Ekadasi or Sayani Ekadasi.

The Tapta Mudra Dharana ritual was also held at the Sri Krishnapur Mutt. Vidyasagar Tirtha Swami of Krishnapur Mutt stamped the shanka and chakra on the chest and arms of devotees.

The departed seer, Lakshmivara Tirtha Swami, used to hold the Tapta Mudra Dharana at his Shiroor Mutt on the Car Street during the Prathama Ekadasi annually. Due to his death, the devotees missed both his presence and the programme at the Shiroor Mutt.
