Land to be identified forrehab home for boys

Additional Deputy Commissioner B. Sadashiva Prabhu said on Wednesday that a proposal would be sent for setting up a Government Boys Rehab Home here.

Speaking to presspersons here, Mr. Prabhu said that this facility would help boys in distress or those in conflict with law. A suitable land would be identified for the boys rehab home here.

He said that the “Childline Se Dosti” Week would be launched on the occasion of the Children’s Day here on Thursday to create awareness on children’s rights and related issues.

The Childline facility was launched at the Sri Krishna Balaniketan here on March 8, 2019. As many as 164 cases had been registered since the launch of the Childline. Of these 164 cases, 148 had been solved, while 14 cases were being processed.

As per the recent directions of the Union government, the Childline programmes were also included in the Swachh Bharat Mission programmes. There has been good public response to the Childline, Mr. Prabhu said.

Additional Superintendent of Police Kumar Chandra, who was present at the press meet, said that the police were taking action against autorickshaws and school buses that were carrying children beyond the stipulated norms.

Childline Director Ramachandra Upadhya was present.
