The documentation of Koragas was carried out by the Regional Resources Centre for Folk Performing Arts at Bommarbettu village near Hiriyadka in Udupi district.

A comprehensive video documentation of the life and culture of Koraga community was carried out by the Regional Resources Centre for Folk Performing Arts, MAHE, at Bommarabettu village near Hiriyadka recently.

A statement issued here on Wednesday said that the documentation took place in Koragara Koppa of Padubhaga Mane. The preparation of various baskets, and other domestic articles, by members of the Koraga community with a certain kind of creeper available in forest area was documented.

In a sense it is both an art and craft. The domestic articles include Hedige (Pudaayi), Gerase (Thadpe), Kudpu, Thattikudpu, Perarpikuruve, different kinds of baskets and handicrafts.

Vasu, Sampa, Pavithra, Ganesh, Manju, Gulabi, Gowri, members of Koraga community, participated in this process. On behalf of the centre, folk scholar K.L. Kundanthaya and others carried out the documentation.
