Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy will present its annual honorary, book and yuva puraskar awards for 2014 at a function in Bengaluru on January 18, according to its president Roy Castelino.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will present the awards at Ravindra Kalakshetra at 4.30 p.m., he told presspersons here on Monday.
It has chosen Padma Shenoy (literature category), Gajanana Mahale (folk) and Koni Seshagiri Nayak (arts) for the honorary award. Each of them would be given away Rs. 10,000, a citation and a memento.
The book award which carried Rs. 5,000, a citation and a memento would be given away to three books. They were Devachya Bhagevamthamno, a collection of stories by Naveen K., Magani Krishna Thukka, a collection of poems by Nagesh Kumar G. Rao and Gandhichem Parjalik Phudarpan, a translated work by J.V. Carlo.
Yuva Puraskar would have no cash. Mementoes and citation would be given away to Ashwin M. Prabhu (music), Prajwal M. Nayak (yoga) and Aruna Nayak (Akashvani artiste), he said.
There would be an interaction with award winners at 10.30 a.m. on the same day. There would be folk dance presentation before the presentation of the awards.
A Konkani cultural festival would be held in the same venue on the previous day, January 17 from 4 p.m.
