Konkan Railway observes Remembrance Day

Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd., (KRCL) on Wednesday observed Remembrance Day in memory of 95 personnel who lost their lives during the construction of the railway network in Karnataka, Goa and Maharashtra as well as during the regular operation.

Corporation Chairman and Managing Director Banu Prakash Tayal placed a wreath on the Shram Shakti Smarak erected in memory of these personnel at Ratnagiri in Maharashtra in the presence of senior officials from KRCL, said an official release. Those present then observed two minutes silence. Konkan Railway passes through some of the most difficult terrain in the country and has overcome many challenges of nature right from its construction phase. The Railway line was successfully constructed due to sheer grit and perseverance of all those involved. The Corporation has been observing October 14 every year as Remembrance Day to salute the courage and priceless contribution of these brave men and women.
