KIOCL signs O&M pact for Donimalai mines

January 13, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:52 am IST - MANGALURU:

KIOCL(formerly Kudremukh Iron Ore Ltd.), which had run into rough weather after the closure of the Kudremukh captive mine, has entered into a pact with NMDC to operate and maintain the latter’s iron ore beneficiation and pellet plants at Donimalai in Ballari district.

This is the second such operation and maintenance contract entered into by KIOCL, the first being with the coke plant at MRPL, Mangaluru.

After closure of the Kudremukh mining site, KIOCL had been finding it difficult to operate its beneficiation and pellet plants at Mangaluru in the absence of a captive mine. The new pact would help KIOCL to put to use its experience and expertise in the field.

KIOCL Chairman and Managing Director Malay Chatterjee told The Hindu that 174 staff of the company would be deputed to Donimalai for the operation and maintenance of the plants.
