Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) on Friday said that the Union Budget 2019-20 was more of an enabling one making things easy for people, particularly entrepreneurs.

KCCI president P.B. Abdul Hameed in a communiqué here said that the budget would ensure minimum government, maximum governance as promised by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. It would reduce direct interface with the government and pave way for electronic interface thereby making things easy for entrepreneurs.

Mr. Hameed also complimented the budget saying that it concentrated more on rural areas and focussed on arresting rural to urban migration. Impetus is given to basic essentials for the common man, including electricity, drinking water and sanitation, which is a welcome measure, he said.

Meanwhile, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel termed the budget as one protecting the interests of everyone — farmers, fishermen and entrepreneurs — where earnest attempts are made to fulfil promises in the poll manifesto. Prime Minister’s Matsya Sampada Scheme would be a boon for the fishermen in coastal area, he said.

Mangaluru South MLA D. Vedavyasa Kamath in a communiqué here on Friday said that the budget would herald the making of a New India. Using plastic waste for Prime Minister’s Rural Roads Project is a bold step towards conserving environment, he said complimenting measures such as the new education policy, upgrading tourist centres, one-Nation, one-Grid for electricity.
