‘Increase spending on education to 8 % of GDP’

The Students Islamic Organisation of India has sought an increase in spending on education to 8 % of Gross Domestic Produce (GDP).

Addressing presspersons here, Afwan Hoode, president of the district unit of Students Islamic Organisation of India, said that the increase in funding for education was one of the many demands in the organisation’s Students Manifesto being released across the State.

Education under the Right to Education Act should be provided till a child attains 18. Quality education should be provided in the mother-tongue or the regional language. Student council elections should be held in all colleges and universities.

With regard to jobs, training should be given to youth under the Skill India Programme. Those completing the courses under the programme should be provided employment. All vacant posts in government sector should be filled.
