Girl bags second rank after re-evaluation

A student from Vivekananda Pre University College, Puttur, Dakshina Kannada, after re-evaluation has shared the second rank in science stream in the State in the final year pre-university examinations results of which had been declared last month.

Haritha M.B. has now scored 595 marks (99.16 %) against 589 marks (98.16%) earlier. After re-evaluation she has secured 96 marks in English against 90 marks earlier. She had scored cent per cent marks in Physics, Mathematics, Biology and Sanskrit. Ms. Haritha had secured 99 marks in Chemistry for which she did not apply for re-evaluation.

She has now shared the second rank with Prateeka C Bhat of MES Chaitanya Pre University College, Sirsi, who had also scored 595 marks in science stream.

Ms. Haritha is interested to study medicine and has appeared for the NEET. The student said that simultaneously she would prepare to face civil service examinations and wanted to become an IAS officer.

“I applied for re-evaluation as I was pretty sure that I should score more marks in English,” she said.

Her father M Madhava Bhat has retired as Principal of Vivekananda Degree College, in Puttur and mother Usha is home maker.

She had bagged the national level INSPIRE award in 2012, Kalashree Award from the State government in 2014 and Dakshina Kannada Rajyotsava Prathibha Puraskar in 2013.
