Free education for the blind

Admissions to classes 1 to 10 of Roman & Catherine Lobo School for the Blind, being run by Seva Bharathi, have started. Classes for the new academic year would start from June 1. Children with complete blindness and low vision are eligible to apply. Entire education, boarding and lodging is provided free of cost, with separate accommodation available for boys and girls. Children would also be taught Braille and computers, said Seva Bharathi Trustee P. Vinod Shenoy. Training for the blind

Roman & Catherine Lobo School for the Blind, run by Seva Bharathi, in association with Vision Aid America, is offering a 40-Sunday training to people with blindness and low vision (both men and women) in mobility, Braille basics, computer basics and others from June 1. The classes would be held between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Sundays. Free food would be provided during the class. Takes charge

Giridhar Salian, Principal and deputy director, Government Polytechnic, Kadri, has taken additional charge as the Director of Karnataka German Multi Skill Development Centre, Mangaluru. The centre, functioning out of the polytechnic premises, is a joint venture of the State and Union governments and is established under the Karnataka Societies Act, said a release.

Consultative meeting of youth groups

Forum for Justice, Mangaluru, has organised a consultative meeting of organisations of youths and apolitical organisations with regard to evolving a society free of corruption, hunger and exploitation, at 4.30 p.m. on May 30 at the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Pandeshwar. Forum working president Dayanath Kotian in a release here said eminent medical doctor Srinivasa Kakkillaya would guide the meeting while N. Sridhar Shetty, Director of postgraduate centre, A.B. Shetty Institute of Dental Sciences, would preside over the meeting.
