Four arrested after groups clash

BJP, Congress supporters clashed in Nandavara

Four persons have been arrested following a clash between two groups in Nandavara in Bantwal Town police station limits on Wednesday.

According to the police, a group of BJP workers went to campaign in Nandavara, but some Congress workers raised slogans and asked them not to campaign in the area. There was a heated exchange of words between the two groups and a couple of them hit each other.

On a complaint by Rasheed, a local resident, the police arrested four persons, the Bantwal Town police said.

Two voter ID cards

The Mangaluru East police have registered a case against a woman in Balmatta for allegedly possessing two voter ID cards, one for Mangaluru City South Assembly constituency and another for Kerala.

In a complaint to the police, Praveen Sait accused Deena Shaji, a resident of Balmatta, of having two voters ID cards. Mr. Sait has also alleged that Ms. Shaji might misuse her card and caste her vote on May 12.
