Eight injured in Manki accidentbrought to Manipal hospital

Eight persons, including five women, who were injured in a road accident between a private bus and van in Ananthwadi, Manki, in Uttara Kannada district, have been admitted to Kasturba Hospital here.

A statement issued by the hospital here on Thursday said that the eight injured persons were brought to the Trauma and Emergency Block of the hospital at 4 a.m.

According to M. Dayananda, Medical Superintendent of Kasturba Hospital, the injured are aged between 14 and 65.

Dr. Dayananda said that of the eight patients, four were in critical condition. Three had suffered serious injuries. He added that one of them will be discharged soon.

The critical patients, Harish N. Shet (24), Rajesh (25), Sunitha (45), and Sumithra (65), have suffered head injuries and were immediately shifted to the ICU.

Two patients, Prashanth (23) and Chaithra (18), have multiple fractures on their body and are being treated by orthopaedic consultants. S. Geetha (42) with nasal bone fracture is being treated by an ENT consultant, the statement said.
