Condemning the district administration and the local police for their failure to contain increasing incidents of atrocities on women , Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) staged a protest demanding an immediate restoration of Law and Order here on Thursday.
Addressing the gathering in front of the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Muneer Katipalla, DYFI district president, said incidents of ‘moral policing’ had increased in the past month because of lack of punitive action by authorities.
‘Congress keeping mum’ “The government has changed in the state, but incidents of moral policing continue,” he said, adding that numerous Congress ministers had rallied against the BJP Government on the issue of ‘moral policing’, but were now keeping mum.
He said there were numerous gangs in the city involved in crimes such as these, and the police should take stringent action against them. “There are right-wing organisations here that mislead and provoke youth into committing communal activities and moral policing. The police should take against them, while, the youth should also be cautious about falling for their diatribe,” said Mr. Katipalla.
In their protest, they burnt an effigy symbolising the district administration.
