Accusing the State government of deliberately slowing down the process of accepting applications for the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Samman Nidhi Yojana, Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council Kota Srinivas Poojary here on Monday asked Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy to create more facilities for accepting applications of all 76 lakh beneficiaries.
Talking to reporters, Mr. Poojary said so far the State government has accepted applications of only 16 lakh farmers. Under the scheme, farmers holding land up to 5 acres will get a sum of ₹6,000 per year in three instalments.
Mr. Poojary said farmers are queuing up outside Atal Janasnehi Kendras to submit documents. “The Chief Minister should open up centres at the gram panchayat level and accept all applications within a week,” he said and added that the BJP would be forced to hold protests if there was any lackadaisical approach towards the scheme.
With the reluctance of the State government to form a legislative committee to look into alleged misappropriation of funds related 16,000 fresh drinking water units, Mr. Poojary said BJP will inquire into the issue on its own and submit a report to the government.
Criticising Mr. Kumaraswamy’s statement that BJP’s celebrations of Balakot attack will lead to a communal divide, Mr. Poojary said it was unbecoming of the CM to make a statement that gives an impression that a community in India works against the interest of the country.
“A person of his stature should not make such statement. He should immediately withdraw it,” Mr. Poojary said.
