Construction worker dies, two injured

A compound wall being built caves in

A 46-year-old construction worker died and two were injured after a portion of compound wall under construction at the Tejaswini Nursing College Hostel caved in at Kudupu near here on Wednesday evening.

The police gave the name of the deceased worker as Shyam (46) from Moodushedde.

The police said that Shyam and two workers, Ramesh and Renuka, were among those involved in the construction of the compound wall. A portion of the hillock collapsed on the wall and it resulted in a part of the compound wall caving in.

All the three workers were injured and were shifted to Tejaswini Hospital where Shyam died of injury.

On a complaint by Ramesh, the Mangaluru Rural Police registered a case against contractor Chandan Das and supervisor Praveen for offences under Sections 337, 338 and 304 (A) of the Indian Penal Code.
