Combing operations launched in the Western Ghats


Naxals spotted in Mittabagilu

The Dakshina Kannada Police and the Anti Naxal Force on Tuesday began combing operations in the Western Ghats following reports on the movement of Maoists in Mittabagilu village near Shiradi.

Three armed persons, including a woman, who said that they were Maoists, visited a few houses in the village on Sunday. They left the village in the evening after buying groceries.

The combing operations are being led by Deputy Superintendent of Police, Puttur.

Superintendent of Police Sudheer Kumar Reddy C.H. said that the police were yet to identify the suspected Maoists and establish the purpose of their visit to a few houses in the village. More details cannot be revealed, he said.
