Combing operations begin in Dharmasthala

In all, 25 teams of the Anti Naxal Force (ANF) began combing operations in the Western Ghats areas close to Dharmasthala on Wednesday as a precautionary security measure in view of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the temple town on Sunday.

According to Sudheer Kumar Reddy C.H., Superintendent of Police, Dakshina Kannada, the combing operations are intensive within a five-kilometre radius of Dharmasthala.

He said that anti-sabotage check teams have been stationed in Dharmasthala.

Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad teams have also been called in.

About 2,000 police personnel, including 10 officers of the rank of Superintendent of Police, 150 officers from the rank of Police Sub-Inspector to the Deputy Superintendent of Police are on bandobast duty.

The Inspector-General, Special Protection Group (SPG), has arrived in Dharmasthala with his officers.
