Another resident of the city has been a victim of debit card fraud.

In her complaint to the Mangaluru North Police, Irene D’Cunna said that she received three SMSes about the purchase of goods worth Rs. 24,041 on June 13. She immediately called the Bank of Baroda helpline and blocked her debit card.

Ms. D’Cunna said that she went to the bank’s branch in Hampankatta on June 15 where she got confirmation about the fraud. The police suspected this to be another case of debit card cloning.

Three medical students have already been victims of debit card cloning. Mohammed Toufeeq, a fourth year MBBS student, had filed a complaint with the Mangaluru North Police about losing Rs. 1.18 lakh on June 18. In April, two medical students had reported losing Rs. 14,993 and Rs. 14,590 respectively.
