Tulu movie Chali Polilu will complete 500 days here on Sunday.

“People are still coming and watching the movie. It is not that I am keeping the film running for this long. The exhibitor is screening it as he is getting revenue,” claimed the film’s producer Prakash Pandeshwar at a press conference here on Saturday.

The film, featuring comedy actors Devdas Kapikad, Bhojraj Vamanjoor, Navin D. Padil and Arvind Bolar, is being screened in PVR Cinemas since its release in October 2014.

It has also been screened twice and thrice in some theatres in Mangaluru, Moodbidri and Puttur. In PVR Cinemas, this film has been viewed by around 33,000 people so far, according to him.

Deepak Gangadhar, a representative of PVR Cinemas, Mangaluru, told presspersons that the PVR was getting good revenue from Chali Polilu . On an average, 50 per cent of seats were occupied. The film was first screened in a hall with 262 seats and then it was moved to a hall with 139 seats. Now it was being screened in a hall with 79 seats.

Mr. Gangadhar said that Chali Polilu was one of the longest running regional films in PVR Cinemas. The other longest screened movies were Kannada movies Mungaru Male , which was screened for 375 days and Duniya , which was screed for 300 days.

“The film is screened purely on the basis of revenue that it generates. So far the earning is good,” he claimed.

Mr. Devdas Kapikad said that the movie could touch a chord among the audience owing to its screenplay that met the entertainment quotient of viewers.

“Our people come to theatre for entertainment and we are giving it. We will not like to change in our movies the present combination of humour and music, which is well accepted and generating good revenue,” Mr. Kapikad further said.

His movie Chandi Kori has been running for 169 days.

Mr. Kapikad said that there were a lot of expectations from Mr. Pandeshwar’s new movie Dabak Daba Aisa , which is slated to be released in the last week of April.
