Case registered against Sulabh International

April 12, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:38 am IST - MANGALURU:

The Mangaluru South police have registered a case against Sulabh International Social Service Organisation following a complaint by the Mangaluru City Corporation which accused the organisation of engaging in manual scavenging.

MCC commissioner H.N. Gopalakrishna filed the complaint following a representation by the members of the Dalit Sangharsh Samiti at a meeting chaired by the Deputy Commissioner on April 6.

The DSS had alleged that the organisation had indulged in manual scavenging for cleaning a manhole near the pubic toilet located at Tempo Park, which is opposite to the Government Lady Goschen Hospital.

The members had spoken about the issue even at a meeting held at the office of Police Commissioner on March 27.
