Sunil K.R., regional convener of the Bajrang Dal, said on Saturday that the State government should form a separate force to protect cows.
Addressing presspersons here, Mr. Sunil said that cow thefts for the sake of slaughtering them affected the religious sentiments of Hindus.
“The incidents of transportation of cows without any permit, hoodwinking the police, in big vehicles are increasing,” he said.
The State government, the district administration, and the police should take stern action and catch those responsible. The State government should properly implement the Karnataka Prevention of Cow Slaughter and Cattle Preservation Act.
The district units of the VHP, the Bajrang Dal, and the Hindu Jagrana Vedike will hold a dharna on all these issues in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office here on July 3, Mr. Sunil said. Pramod Mandarti, secretary of the district unit of the VHP, Dinesh Mendon, Dinesh Shetty, Bajrang Dal leaders, Prakash Kukkehalli, general secretary of Hindu Jagrana Vedike, were present.
