‘Business leaders must be learners’

Mohan, Practice Head HR, Wipro, Bengaluru, has said that business across the world was changing rapidly and business leaders had to be continuous learners.

He was delivering a special lecture on ‘HRM challenges in the VUCA world,’ organised by ‘Converge’, the Human Resources Association of the Justice K.S. Hegde Institute of Management at Nitte in Udupi district on Friday. The acronym VUCA stands for volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity.

According to a release issued by the institute here on Saturday, Mr. Mohan said that digitalisation had contributed to speed and efficiency. Replacement of “traditional manpower” was visible. Business was becoming fragile, opening up new challenges to MBA degree-holders, he said.

He said that the future leaders entering into the corporate arena should qualities such as vision, clarity, and agility. Resource constraint will be a challenge. “Future business leaders need to be continuous learners and deep thinkers,” he said.
