Governor visit

Governor Vajubhai Vala will arrive here at 9 a.m. on June 17 and attend the 33rd annual convocation at Mangalore University at 11 a.m. He will leave for Bengaluru at 4.35 p.m.

Power shutdown

There will be no power supply to some areas in Udupi district on June 17 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The areas are Hebri, Shivapurua, Khajane, Mudrady, Varanga, Muniyalu, Kabbinale, Seethanadi, Someshwara, Nadpalu, Belanje, Madamakki, Santhekatte, Karje and nearby areas. It is for maintenance works at Hebri sub-station, a MESCOM release here said.

Applications invited

Office of the Child Development Project, Bantwal, has invited applications from women for financial assistance for self-employment activities during 2015-16. The assistance will be given under the Udyogini scheme. The last date to apply is July 10, a release said.

Street play troupes

Department of Information and Public Relations has invited applications from troupes staging street plays and music troupes to propagate development schemes of the government. Music troupes should have a minimum of three members and street play troupes a minimum of six members. The last date to apply is June 20. For details, call 0824 2424254.

Interaction

Mallajamma, chairperson, B.R. Ambedkar Development Corporation will hold an interaction with people here on June 18 at 11.30 a.m. The venue is Netravathi Hall in the zilla panchayat, Kottara.
