‘Youth will develop plural society’

The former Chief Election Commissioner S.Y. Quraishi said the average age of the Indian citizen is expected to become 29 years by 2025 and hence youngsters’ participation in elections will help develop plural society. Delivering the fourth convocation of Yenepoya University, he said the election commission’s initiative—Youth Unite for Voter Awareness — has resulted in unprecedented turnouts in the elections since 2010.

Pilikula open today

The Dr. K. Shivarama Karantha Pilikula Nisargadhama would remain open for the general public on Monday, said executive director of the Nisargadhama S.A. Prabhakara Sharma.

Human chain

The Dakshina Kannada district committee of SKSSF will form a human chain on Republic Day at Adyar Kannur from 4 p.m. A public meeting would be held presided by Panakkad Syed Abbasali Shiyab Tangal. Abdul Nasar Paizi Kudtai would deliver the keynote address.

Bearys’ meet

Bearys’ Forum, Mangaluru, would be holding Bearys’ Grand Meet 2015 on Monday at Al-Khazana Hall in B.C. Road. A competition of singing Islamic songs, workshops on simple marriage and using social networking websites, blood donation camp, drama and poets’ meet would be some of the attractions of the meet. Minister U.T. Khader, MLA B.A. Mohiuddin Bava, Deputy Commissioner A.B. Ibrahim, Popular Front of India National President K.M. Sharief and others would attend the programme.
