Magician Samarth Shenoy appeared tired after his 300-km journey from Mysore as he climbed up the mobile advertising van and address a people gathered on the premises of the Town Hall.

This young magician on Wednesday completed a gruelling 11-hour blindfolded ride on a 110 cc scooter. “Nobody has so far driven blind folded (this far) in the country. I have managed this without drinking water. I am shortly approaching for entry into the Limca Book of Records,” said Mr. Shenoy while thanking those who supported him and the 11-member technical support team.

The start of the journey, Mr. Shenoy said, got delayed because of rain. He started the ride from the Kote Anjaneya Temple near Mysore Palace around 7.10 a.m. He was flanked by six motorcyclists, a video camera van, an announcement van, and an advertising board van. The drive till Sakleshpur was smooth.

The hard task, he said, was driving through the ghat section in the rain. “Our technical team had difficulty in communicating with me,” he said. The support, he said, was in the form of motorcyclists pressing horn to indicate about humps and danger. “I was using eight magic tricks to drive all along the stretch. It is difficult to explain those techniques,” he said.

Mr. Shenoy said there was discomfort during the drive as he was on fast. “At a point in the ghat section, I stopped the vehicle and asked my team to give me water. But water was not available at that time,” he said. The team members wanted him to stop his drive near Uppinangady following rain. “Having covered 270 km, I did not want to leave and I continued. The rain stopped when we reached B.C. Road and I came here,” he said.
