Bishop of Mangaluru Aloysius Paul D’Souza on Friday asked people to uphold humanity and live cordially.

Delivering his message at a Christmas celebration function at the Bishop House, he said that peace meant not only refraining from violence but to respond to the difficulties of others.

He said that the diocese would hand over 24 houses for the poor next week.

Referring to frequent religion-based violence incidents being reported in Dakshina Kannada, Johara Abbas, principal, Al-Badriya Educational Institutions, Katipalla, said that some people had failed to realise what humanity meant.

She alleged that seeds of hatred were being sown in the minds of children to fester when they became adults.
