With the restoration of landslip-affected stretches of the track between Sakleshpur and Subrahmanya Road Ghat section under way, the South Western Railway has cancelled operation of trains between Bengaluru and Mangaluru till August 25.
SWR had earlier cancelled the services till August 23 hoping to restore the affected stretches by Friday.
The stretch near Km 63 (Yedakumari) is yet to be restored, Mysuru Divisional Railway Manager Aparna Garg said.
According to the Senior Divisional Engineer (Coordination) of Mysuru Division, three out of five affected stretches could be restored by Saturday and the two remaining stretches by Sunday night. The cancelled trains include: Train 16516 Karwar – Yeshwantpur Express commencing journey from Karwar on August 24; Train 16518/16524, Kannur/ Karwar - KSR Bengaluru Express commencing journey from Kannur/Karwar on August 23 and 24; Train 16511/16513 KSR Bengaluru - Kannur / Karwar Express commencing journey from KSR Bengaluru on August 23 and 24; Train 16575 Yeshwantpur – Mangaluru Jn. Express commencing journey from Yeshwantpur on August 25, and Train 16585 Yeshwantpur – Mangaluru Central Express commencing journey from Yeshwantpur on August 25.
