Bantwal tahsildar trapped

The Lokayukta police on Friday arrested Narayan Rao, tahsildar of Bantwal, while he was receiving Rs. 2,000 as bribe.

The police recovered unaccounted cash of Rs. 85,000 from his office.

According to the Lokayukta police, the tahsildar sought Rs. 2,000 from Satish Prabhu for transfer of a gun licence. Mr. Prabhu's application was pending with the tahsildar for the past three months.

On a complaint by Mr. Prabhu, the Lokayukta police caught the tahsildar while he was accepting bribe in his office.
