The Dakshina Kannada district administration will release a mobile app called Livestock Logistics Control on Google Playstore to help those legally transporting cattle to get authenticity for their transaction, said Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil S. on Tuesday.

Addressing a press conference with Superintendent of Police B.M. Laxmi Prasad on the administration’s attempts to ensure smooth celebration of Bakrid, Mr. Senthil said transporters may upload details of cattle being transported, the vehicle being used for the purpose, and a self-certification.

This information would be shared by the Animal Husbandry Department with other departments concerned thereby according legitimacy for cattle transportation. The transportation may be for any purpose, including dairying, farming, or slaughtering and covers all major cattle.

Though not mandatory, using the app would be helpful for genuine transporters to exhibit the details whenever the vehicle was subjected for checking by authorities concerned. The app would further be developed to offer some related services, he added.

U.T. Khader, the then district in-charge Minister, had said the administration would create a platform for legal cattle transportation.

Stern action

Meanwhile, Mr. Senthil said the administration would come down heavily on illegal cattle transporters as well as those attempting to stop such activities illegally by taking law into their hands.

People may call the district control room on 1077 or police control on 100 to inform the authorities about illegal cattle transportation.

Law and order

The law and order situation in the district has largely been peaceful in the recent past with people being aware of its importance. There were not many instances of communal disturbance, he said.

The Superintendent of Police said about 90 people who often indulged in disturbance activities have already been warned ahead of Bakrid.

He said police have stationed patrol vehicles at Puttur, Belthangady and Bantwal towns to curb illegal cattle transportation as well as illegal stopping of such vehicles.
