Anjuman Hami-e-Muslimeen centenary fete from Thursday

The Anjuman Hami-e-Muslimeen, a Bhatkal-based organisation that runs a cluster of educational institutions, will begin its centenary celebrations with a four-day programme that begins on January 3. The organisation was started by M.M. Saddique, I.H. Siddique and F.A. Hassan with an intention to provide education to members of the community that will help in bringing social, economic and political progress.

The organisation started with Islamic Preschool. It now runs four primary schools, five high schools that includes two Urdu schools, two pre-university colleges, two degree colleges, a college of education, an institute of management and computer science and a college of technology and management.

The organisation is not only catering to people of Uttara Kannada but also to students from neighbouring districts, said president of the organisation Jukaku Abdul Rahim.

Talking to reporters here on Sunday, Mr. Rahim said that the centenary celebrations will begin on January 3 with a procession from Anjumanabad campus.

Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy will participate in the function to be held on January 5. Rank holders and other achievers from the institutions will be felicitated. Teachers, lecturers and professors who have worked for long in the institutions of the organisation will also be felicitated.

Revenue Minister R.V. Deshpande, Urban Development Minister U.T. Khader, Food and Civil Supplies Minister B.Z. Zameer Ahmed Khan and MLAs Sunil B. Naik and Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri and president of Jamia Islamia Ishaatul Ullom Ghulam Mohammad Vastanvi will attend.

There will be a programme exclusively for women on January 6 that will be presided over by Fathima Muzaffer, member of All India Muslim Personal Law Board. There will be a cultural programme “Nawayath Mehfil” the same evening
