Airport gets OSHAS 18001 certification

The Joint Accreditation System of Australia and New Zealand (JAS-ANZ), Australia, has awarded the OSHAS 18001 certification to Mangalore Airport, according to the director of the airport M.R. Vasudeva.

OHSAS 18001 is an international occupational health and safety management system specification. The certificate issued on March 11, 2012, is valid till March 10, 2015.

First in South India

Mangalore is the first airport in South India to get this certification, he told The Hindu .

The certification has been issued for health (of employees) and safety management systems at the airport.

The scope of safety management systems covered air traffic services at the airport, facilities at the terminal building and support services for passengers, Mr. Vasudeva said.
