Vivekananda Vidyavardaka Sangha to launch community radio

Vivekananda Vidyavardaka Sangha, Puttur, will observe the birth anniversary of Swamy Vivekananda with the launch of a community radio titled Panchajanya 90.8 FM on January 12.

The following day, a job fair aimed at the rural youth would be held. The Vivekananda Employment Information and Training Centre would be launched and the new building of Vivekananda College of Engineering and Technology at Puttur would be inagurated.

Sangha president Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat told presspersons on Wednesday that Union Minister of State for Commerce Nirmala Sitharaman would inaugurate the community FM radio.

He said the college has established a recording studio, a transmitter booth and a radio tower for the purpose. It would focus on education, sports, science, music, technology, agriculture, literature, dairying, drama and other local events and festivals. Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s South Karnataka publicity co-head Pradeep would deliver the keynote address. On January 13, Union Minister of State for Skill Development Rajiv Pratap Rudy would inaugurate the job fair, the new building of the engineering college and the training centre, Mr. Bhat said.

Over 10,000 job aspirants have already registered for the job-fair in which more than 150 companies have evinced interest to be part of the event. Companies such as Wipro, Infosys, ITC, Big Bazaar, Volvo, Flipkart, Ambuja Cement, Saint Gobain, Manipal Technology, HDFC, Kotak Mahindra etc., would attend the fair.
