A false news aired by some television channels, including a national channel, on Saturday night that a flight at Mangalore Airport had caught fire, created panic among several people here.

A channel had even announced that 131 passengers in the flight were feared dead.

Speaking to The Hindu over phone on Sunday, Director of the airport M.R. Vasudeva said that there was a fire alarm at the terminal building when the flight was moving from the parking stand to the runway.
