Six students travelling in a car were injured after the vehicle rammed into the wall of a restaurant in Attavar in the early hours of Saturday. According to Mangalore East Traffic police, the students were on their way to have tea in stalls near Mangalore Central Railway Station.The car they were in was yet to get a permanent registration number. The driver lost control over the vehicle and rammed into the wall of Hotel South India around 5 a.m.
Among those injured were Mohammed Sadaf (17), Bazid (16), Mohammed Tahsil (21) and Azwad. The police said they are yet to register a case as statements of the injured have not been recorded. The injured have been admitted to a private hospital in Falnir, the police said.
Missing
A captain working at a well-known hotel on M.G. Road has been reported missing from his house since November 11. In a complaint filed before the Mangalore East police station, Jayanti, a resident of Yeyyadi, said her husband Naveen left the house on November 11 for work. He did not go the hotel. He did not return home. Having failed to find her husband in the last five days, Ms. Jayanti filed a complaint.
13 trucks seized
In a night operation on Friday, the district police have seized 13 trucks that were allegedly illegally transporting sand to Bangalore. The trucks were stopped at Uppinangady. The trucks — with an estimated 600 tonnes of sand — were transporting sand without permits and had overloaded their vehicles, police said.
