483.57 grams of gold seized at airport

The Customs sleuths recovered 483.57 grams of gold, valued at ₹ 18.47 lakh, from a passenger at the international airport here on Tuesday. The passenger is said to have concealed the gold, which is in paste form, in his rectum.

The Customs sleuths said that the passenger was checked soon after he arrived at the airport from Dubai. The gold was concealed by the passenger in three packets in his rectum. The passenger was released after the formalities of seizure were completed.

On October 12 this year, the Customs sleuths had foiled a similar attempt by a passenger to smuggle in gold by seizing 524.78 grams of gold valued at ₹ 19.72 lakh. Later, on November 4, the sleuths had seized 252.98 grams of gold in plate form from another passenger.
