20 more hoblis proposed in Dakshina Kannada

The Dakshina Kannada district administration has decided to submit a proposal to the government to create 20 more hoblis in the district.

A hobli is a cluster of villages brought together for administrative purposes.

A meeting chaired by minister in-charge of the district B. Ramanath Rai took the decision for making administration easier especially in matters pertaining to Revenue Department.

Presently, the district has 17 hoblis. The meeting decided to have a total of 37 hoblis in the district — Mangaluru taluk: Mangalur A, Lady Hill, Alape, Thokkottu, Deralakatte, Gurupura, Vamanjoor, Surathkal, Kavoor, Bajpe, Mulki, Kinnigoli, Moodbidri North, Moobdiri South, Shirthady; Bantwal taluk: Bantwal, Kavalamudur, B. Mooda, Mudipu, Vitla, Mani; Belthangady: Belthangady, Ujire, Kokkada, Tannirupantha, Venur, Aladangady; Puttur: Puttur, Kavu, Uppinangady, Nelyadi, Kadaba and Savanoor; Sullia: Sullia, Bellare, Panja, Subrahmanya.

Mr. Rai said that a proposal to the government could be submitted to make Mangaluru City South and Mangaluru City North Assembly constituencies as taluks.
