Youth gored to death by bull

MADURAI

A 23-year-old man, M. Sathish was gored in the thigh by a bull in a ‘vadamadu’ manjuvirattu event at Koothappanpatti near Melur. Later, he died at Government Rajaji Hospital here on Sunday late evening.

Police said the event involved taming of bulls, tied with a long rope, by a team of players. The event that was held at Koothappanpatti tank in connection with a temple festival began at 10.15 a.m. The bulls were let onto the ground one by one and team of players tried to tame them. Sathish of Therkku Theru, who got into the arena, sustained injuries when a bull gored him.

After being administered first aid at Melur Government Hospital, he was rushed to the GRH where he died without responding to the treatment.
