Virudhunagar

In a daring incident, a 42-year-old woman, T. Grace Glory, of Kooraikundu was robbed of over four sovereigns of gold and some cash at knifepoint at her house on Wednesday evening.

The police said that the accused, in the age group of 22 to 25 years, had barged into her house, located near the Kooraikundu railway gate at around 4 p.m. when the woman was alone at home.

While one of them brandished a knife and placed it on her neck, the two others removed her gold chain and ear rings. Later, one of them had taken cash left in the almirah, the police said.

After accomplishing their mission, the accused, tied the hands of the woman with a towel and made her sit on the floor and fled from the scene.

The exact amount of money robbed was yet to be ascertained. Her husband, Tamilarasan, is employed with a nationalised bank in the town. The Soolakkarai police are investigating into the case.
