Commissioner of Railway Safety, Southern Circle, Bangalore (under the Ministry of Civil Aviation) will conduct an enquiry here on Wednesday (May 13) into the accident in which a woman passenger had lost one of her hands after it hit an indication board while travelling in an express train near here on May 9.
A railway statement said that the statutory enquiry would be held at the meeting hall in Divisional Railway Manager’s Office, Madurai Division, Southern Railway, Madurai 625016. It would commence at 11.00 a.m. The passenger, Mahalakshmi (20), who was travelling by Chennai-Thiruvananthapuram Anantapuri Express suffered the injury when her hand hit on the board between Kalligudi and Virudhunagar Railway Stations.

Meanwhile, another statement said that a departmental enquiry revealed that miscreants had tried to dismantle the board and also bent the angle carrying the board towards the track in the process of stealing, which led to the accident.
