Water level in Periyar dam stood at 112.45 feet (permissible level 142 ft.) with an inflow and a discharge of 100 cusecs each. In Vaigai dam, the level was 28.77 ft. (71 ft.) with nil inflow and a discharge of 60 cusecs. Combined storage in Periyar credit was 1,121 mcft.
Rainfall recorded in the 24 hours ending at 6 a.m. on Thursday was (in mm): Kodaikanal 13.2, Periyar dam 8.6, Sothuparai dam 3, Chittampatti 1.6 and Thekkadi 1.2, PWD officials said.
