VOC Port Trust sets new record

A new record was set at the V.O.C Port Trust for the highest single day handling on Monday.

The port handled 59,839 metric tonnes of thermal coal in a day at the North Cargo Berth-I from the vessel, M.V. Aqua Knight, surpassing the previous single day record of 51,413 MT of coal handled at Berth-9 from the vessel MV Ultra Gujarat on June 14, 2018. Earlier, North Cargo Berth-I has handled 48,701 MT of thermal coal in a single day on March 20, 2018.

North Cargo Berth-I, the captive berth of NLC Tamilnadu Power Ltd. (NTPL), has handled 3.6 million tonnes of thermal coal during the financial year 2017-18 and 2.73 MT of thermal coal during the current financial year up to December, 2018.
