A 58 year old woman, A. Ravithbasiriya, was booked under section 370 of the IPC and Section 17 of Tamil Nadu Prevention of Begging Act, based on a complaint by a visually challenged man R. Ramamoorthy Raja at the S.S. Colony Police Station here on Friday.

The police said that the accused allegedly tricked and forced the complainant into begging at traffic signals, by promising him a job.

“The accused approached the visually challenged person who was selling agarbattis at bus stands and promised him a better job and salary. The next day, she handed him an aluminium box with a lock and forced him to beg at Kalavasal junction,” said the police.

The police said that the accused also cheated the victim of the money collected in the box.
