The cadres of Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) laid siege to the Collectorate here on Monday demanding a government job and monetary compensation to the family of one of its office-bearers, A.T.S. Rajan alias Sahaya Rajan, who was murdered on November 23.

The cadres, led by the party’s Madurai urban district secretary A.S. Anbazhagan, staged a road blockade outside the main gate leading to the Collectorate after they found that the police had cordoned off all the pathways and prevented the agitators from entering the premises.

They raised slogans accusing the police of inaction for 15 days after the murder of office-bearer.

Later, Mr.Anbazhagan met the District Revenue Officer and presented a memorandum seeking speedy action in the case besides appropriate relief to the victim’s family. Collector L. Subramanian was not present at that time.
