VAO caught on graft charge

A village administrative officer of Mela Amathur was caught red-handed while reportedly demanding and accepting a bribe money of ₹7,000 from a man for processing a petition seeking patta name transfer, here on Tuesday.

Sleuths of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption unit of Virudhunagar, laid a trap after T. Nachan, 38, of Servaikaranpatti lodged a complaint that the VAO, Armstrong, demanded bribe for the name transfer of patta. As per the instruction of the DVAC sleuths, he handed over the money to Armstrong at the office of VAO when the DVAC team, led by Inspector of Police, Boominathan, caught him red-handed.
