Two workers were injured after they fell down from an electric pole as they suffered electric shock while taking up monthly maintenance work near Watrap on Friday.

The police identified the injured as T. Kaliswaran, 42, a line man of Watrap and a contract worker K Palaniswami, 29.

The police said that the workers had climbed up the electric pole at Kodikulam under Koomapatti police station limits after switching off the power supply.

However, they came in contact with a live wire.

Both of them fell down while Kaliswaran suffered head injury, Palaniswami had bleeding injury on his head and suffered fracture on his right hand.

A TANGEDCO source said that power from a generator in the nearby area had caused the electric shock. The injured have been admitted to a private hospital, the police said.
