Two more surrender in murder case

June 06, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:38 am IST - MADURAI:

Two persons, Kamal and Vignesh, surrendered before a judicial magistrate court in Tirumangalam on Friday, in connection with the recent murder of AIADMK functionary Rajendran in Jaihindpuram.

Rajendran was having tea near his dwelling when he was murdered by an armed gang. Police suspected it to be a revenge murder. They suspected the role of Sekar (also an AIADMK functionary) in the crime. His son conspired with his accomplices to eliminate Rajendran.

Based on confessions of ‘Kanmai’ Pandi and Kodiarasan, special teams were formed to search for the suspects. On Thursday, Selvam, a suspect, surrendered in Vadipatti court and as the police mounted its investigation, two more — Kamal and Vignesh — surrendered. The police are enquiring Rajendran’s wife Jayalakshmi, an AIADMK councillor. An officer said that the gang was hired from Coimbatore.
